(More customer reviews)There is just so much talk about video game systems these days. Especially since consumers are just craving the recently released Xbox 360 system from Microsoft. Argubly, there are always substitutes for anybody who has the urge for a game system, especially for when it absolutely comes to other systems. I had that craving for the Xbox 360, and instead I went back to Nintendo. After several times experimenting with different systems, I adored the DS system, and decided to stick with the handhelds. I was definitely right, and now that urge still stands with Nintendo's latest DS bundle pack.
The Nintendo DS Mario Kart bundle, is a great combination for anybody who loves the need for Nintendo's speed. The DS system is displayed in a bright red limited edition in this package, and comes with a wirst strap, AC adapter, and other accessories. I was really surprised about how simple it was to operate, without any batteries. All it takes is one quick charge on the Ac adapter, and you have wireless fun in a flash.
The game is also a great find too, Mario Kart DS. This game is absolutely great for die hard Mario Kart fanatics. In this edition, you can race your favorite characters from Mario, Yoshi, Bowser to name a few through over 30 outrageous tracks and challenges. The highlights are mainly around 2 seperate grand prixs:the nitro edition with 16 all new, clever tracks like the snow summitted DK Pass, to the even more wild and wicked Rainbow Road, and the retro edition that showcases several classsic tracks from Mario Karts past including Mario Kart 64, and the original Super Mario Kart from the Super NES system. The graphics are really superb, and definitely bring out even more with the 3-D highlights. The control is a little complex at first, but it is very easy to operate after a quick game. Arguably, for so many who've plaed the analog stick for the Gamecube and N64 editions. There are also so many great unlockables including characters like Waluigi, Dry Bones who just made a comeback in Mario Superstar Baseball earlier this year, and Daisy too.
All in all, the Nintendo DS Mario Kart Bundle is a absolutely great buy for anybody who has the need to get a video game system this year. While all the hype is on the Xbox 360 this time, this makes a great substitute for any parent. I really suggest this as a must have for anybody.

Killswitch Review

(More customer reviews)Namco's Killswitch is probably one of the most technically impressive titles you'll ever play for the GBA, and one of the most frustrating. You play as a lone soldier behind enemy lines as you take out armys of thugs and terrorists via an array of guns and grenades. However, Killswitch isn't necessarily a run and gun type of game, because if you take that approach to the game, you'll be dead real quick. Instead, stealth is the name of the game as you must crouch, crawl, and use the area to your advantage to gain the upper hand. The third person perspective that the game runs on works well, using the shoulder buttons to pivet the camera and help aim your weapons when shielding yourself. Because Killswitch is presented in a third person perspective and this is the GBA, the graphics appear quite blocky, like a Super NES game using the FX chip, but that's not such a drawback. What is a drawback is the game's frustrating gameplay. When you die, instead of re-spawning where you died or a spot relatively close to where you died, you are re-spawned back at the beginning of the level. This can get especially frustrating during boss battles. Not to mention that as a whole the game is quite short. While this hurts the overall aspect of Killswitch, the game still has a lot going for it; including some great sound effects and a surprisingly great use of the GBA's control scheme. It's worth a look for action fans still holding on to their GBA, but Killswitch is one of those games to try before you buy.

Its your mission to stop a war or to start one? Follow your orders and get your enemy in the crosshairs in kill.switch.Your targets arent going to go down easy. Youll need to take cover almost as often as you take aim. Based on the PC game of the same name kill.switch has six levels in exotic locales like the Middle East and North Korea.* Six levels* 3-D environments* Unlockable extended gameplay modes* You can rotate your view 360 degrees with ease simply by pressing L to rotate left and R to rotate right. Aiming and moving in cover and blind- fire modes is tricky though.* To gain the 3-D effect some detail gets sacrificed. Usually this is no problem but occasionally youll have a tough time recognizing an object. You move from area to area to engage a new group of enemies. Youll conveniently find crates for cover and barrels to help you pull off big explosions.* Locking the enemy in your crosshairs signified by your crosshairs turning red doesnt guarantee a direct hit. The accuracy depends on the weapon of choice. A shotgun will normally provide a kill on the first shot. If you have an automatic rifle your shots are relatively inaccurate even if your aim is true.* When engaging the enemy you can stay in the open or look for cover. In cover you can either shoot wildly (blind fire) or step out aim and shoot. In blind fire youre hiding behind a crate and shooting wildly in the general direction of an enemy. It wont be accurate but the more you shoot the better your chance of hitting a target. You can also step out for an aimed shot and then swiftly return into cover. Rebelstar: Tactical Command Review

(More customer reviews)I was a little sceptical when i first heard about Rebelstar Tactical Command. I've been waiting for a handheld version of X-Com for a long time and despite loving Tactical RPGs i was a little disapointed that the only real aspect of X-Com to make it to Rebelstar (Other then fighting aliens) was X-Com's brilliant tactical combat. (For those who haven't played X-Com think turned based squad combat with pistols, machine guns, grenades etc)
Well as you can tell by my rating i'm anything but dissapointed.
Unlike X-Com you follow a typical linier RPG plot where you must complete preset missions to progress through the story, and boy are some of the missions difficult. Despite being a seasoned veteran of everything X-Com many of the missions really have taken everything i have to keep all my soldiers alive. While some Tactical RPGs are frusteratingly difficult because they require you to spend alot of time leveling up to have a chance, (Unless you feel like extorting the A.I.) Rebelstar is the kind of game that rewards strategy and really gives you a feeling of satisfaction when you manage to get all your boys back alive and get that elite ranking. (You're scored based on your level of success in each mission)
Trust me when i tell you BUY THIS GAME, $20 dollars is a steal for this gem. Rebelstar definately gets my vote for Game of the year.

Yoda Stories Review

(More customer reviews)when i played this at my friends house, i thought "hey, the movies are good, the game sounds pretty fun!" but then i turned it on... "wait a minute! kyle, i move so slow and i cant...control...myself...what the heck is that? my character is...a.....blob! must...turn...it off....so i did, and i told my friend never ever bring it over again. a word of caution: if u don't want a handful of frustration, confusion, and difficulty, DONT GET THIS GAME!!

Star Wars Trilogy: Apprentice of the Force Review

(More customer reviews)Star Wars Trilogy: Apprentice of the force seems like the greatest way to fully enjoy Star Wars. This is not a bad game but as my title says, its repetative. That's not to say its a bad game, it just rehashes too much at throughout each level.
The game is comprised of five chapters, ten levels in each chapter so the game is 50 levels long. You control Luke throughout your journey through the Star Wars Trilogy. You'll begin in A New Hope and end in Return of the Jedi. The game follows the story quite closely and throws in a scene shot (not an actual scene, think of Super Star Wars) from the movie every now and then.
The game plays out simple. Each level is a 2D side-scroller where you'll work your way from one of the level to the other. When you first begin its really easy to get into it. The game doesn't present any major challenges and then you get to the moment where you have to stop to massacre a bunch of your enemies at once. Pretty soon this becomes a chore in almost every level. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have it play out the same way. Luke doesn't take much damage... and he deals out a lot. Top that off with most levels can be progressed through pretty fast so in short it feels like your doing the same thing over and over again. This also wouldn't hurt so much if the game weren't so easy.
There are a few fun levels though. The Trench of the Death Star is pretty fun, and so is the Speeder Bike chase from Return of the Jedi but these level are too few and far between. Mostly you'll just play through the side-scrolling levels. If the game didn't have 40 of these levels and had a bit more variety in the gameplay it would be a little better.
However, Luke does get lots of different moves. When you begin you can only do the basics like jump, crouch shoot and the like. By the time you get to the end of the game you'll be able to do backflips, double jumps and a whole lot more. After each chapter Luke gains another ability or two he can use. This makes it so there's plenty for you to do. I wish as the game went on though, enemies attack patterns would change. An enemy that only fire one blast at you will always only fire one blast at you. As you get further into the game the difficulty level never ups itself.
After you get through the game though, you can rush through the game playing the levels that aren't the same old side-scrolling. But that isn't enough to warrant this game for a buy.
Graphic wise the game doesn't live up to the full potential of the GBA. Visually it isn't appealing enough but it runs pretty fast and stays consistant. I haven't experienced any slow down. The game is pretty colorful but a bit more of a facelift would've been nice.
The audio in the game is disturbingly good. While John Williams classic score sounds a little odd coming from the GBA speaker at times, it matches up with the movies really well. The game also borrowed voices from the movie and dumped them in; from the Jawas to Darth Vadar. There are some original tunes but most you'll recognize from the movies.
This isn't a bad game but it also offers no replay value. Its too easy for starters and eventhough its 50 levels long you can finish it in a day or two. Should you buy it you won't have it long before you fully exploit what it has to offer. The repetativeness of each level is also tedious after a while.
Overall, this is not really a bad game but it really isn't good either. Great idea, but it doesn't live up to the potential of what it could be.

Lego Star Wars Review

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased this game for my 6-year-old son, and he loves it. The game allows him to choose adventures from Episodes I,II, and III. In Episode I, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are pitted in a fierce battle with alien droids. Episode II finds Anakin fighting the scary Tuskin Raiders. Finally, Episode III pits Anakin and Obi-Wan together. This time they're fighting the Separatists aboard General Grievous' ship.
This is a very fun and action-packed game. My son prefers it to the Star Wars Episode III game pack. The graphics are excellent, and the official Star Wars music plays in the background while the player is slugging it out on the screen. I recommend this game very highly. Having three different episodes included in one game is a great deal, and each one is loads of fun. Purchase this game and enter into the world of Star Wars.
