The villagers are now smarter,for example they'll start gathering wood after building a lumber camp, farm queing, you just give enough money to it, and villagers will build farms untill money run off.
Ram's are now transports, garrizon units inside it to increase speed and defend units inside. ship formations,you can also send commands to friendly computer players. and finally new temperature zones including tropics, and ice. That is a very interesting game...

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga Review

(More customer reviews)Real Time Strategy (RTS) games had never really gotten my attention until the release of Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. I had played Command and Conquer until it bored me into a coma, played StarCraft until I couldn't care if my units lived or died (which took about three hours), and played Star Trek: Armada until completion just to find out what happened next in the backstory (not being overly challenged by the combat scenarios). All in all, I had chalked up RTS games to being for a niche market that I, apparently, didn't belong to.
Then Galactic Battlegrounds came out and changed all of that. It is not terribly different from any of the above games or their bretheren (it reminds me particularly of Age of Empires - which it bases its game engine on - and WarCraft/StarCraft). There is an interesting addition in the form of air attack units, but I can't say that this is what brings be back to this game time and again.
I guess the addiction comes from pure fanboy glee. Let me put aside all rational gaming considerations like graphics (very good, but not fantastic), learning curve (very easy with a good tutorial, no manual reading required), and game play (well paced fun, never boring). Let's down to the meat of the act. Pure geekish fun.
Oh, sure, it is okay to control a bunch of annonymous soldiers and fight off invading forces like in StarCraft. But squishing a Jar-Jar Binks look-alike under the heel of your AT-AT Imperial Walker - now THAT is worth the price of admission!
Getting good takes practice like any other game. The difficulty is easily adjustable, and the replayability is infinate. Add in the fact that this bundle comes with the Clone Campaigns - adding two more types of forces to play from Episode 2 - and this will be the best money you have dropped on a video game in a long while.

(More customer reviews)I held off buying either Galactic Battlegrounds or Clone Campaigns because of reviews that told me that it would be a waste of money if I already had Age of Empires. I see now that this was a bogus opinion. I found this 2 CD set of both games to be a blast- it combined two of my favorite interests- Star Wars and Age of Empires. I mean I've had every version of Age of Empires from the original to the Conquerors expansion and I did not get tired of it. If anything it rejuvenated the whole thing for me. There are plenty of new twists here with new weapontry, technology, civilizations, and scenarios.
Of course there was one advantage to holding off this long to get these games. This jewel case set is MUCH cheaper than buying the two when they first came out. And if you are already familiar with the AOE engine you need no manual.
This is the kind of game that you come home to tired after a full day of work and still end up playing it way too late....
