(More customer reviews)This is a standard plug and play usb dual action game pad. It would probably actually work with a windows running machine, as the drivers necessary for it to work are recognized by games that recognize game pads. It should be noted that some of the other reviews quote that Quake 4, Doom 3, and Call of Duty games don't work with the game pad. It should be noted that Quake 4 and Doom 3 were not designed to work with gamepads, and only through the use of a third party software can they be made to recognize game pads. Also, though I'm not sure if this is the case for the the most recent Call of Duties released for Mac, I remember both 1 and 2 were again gamepad incompatible.
I've owned one for a little over a year and a half, and found it durable and easy to use. It's main issue, when there is drift in the stick or the d-pad, is general a software error, not a hardware one. Many of these problems can be fixed by pressing the button that swaps d-pad and left analog's functionality, and requires some patience to understand when that doesn't work, it's probably the software, which quick google searches generally reveal.
It works well with all mac emulators that are currently at a release stage, though notably not at the present time with most emulators that are in beta and pre-beta forms. Of the emulators that are at a release stage, the only one it is noticeably wonky with is sixtyforce, though a recent release of that emulator seems to have fixed that problem entirely.
I'm buying another, presently, as my last one broke due to the number one cause for hardware to not work as intended, human error. This may be of note to some though. Like all game pads, over time dust and other detritus will collect around the buttons and in the wells. Make sure to clean your game pad (and mice with balls and trackballs and keyboards) regularly to avoid this buildup destroying the device sooner. Keeping the device clean will allow it to last a good long time.
Mine met it's end at the hand of careless soda putting down, resulting in a full shower in ginger ale. Despite this, the controller still works, but several of the buttons just aren't as responsive as they need to be for many games, and occasionally stick. Hopefully shipping will be kind to the one I've ordered.

DS Mini Backpack Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this case for use with my 3DS system. While the logo shows the "regular" DS logo, I'm happy to say that the 3DS fits very well. Having received the case as part of a 3DS preorder promotion, I researched it very little and wasn't expecting much. However, I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and features. This is much more than a bag with a single, large pocket for storing the system. Indeed, this case will definitely become the primary travel case for my 3DS.
Not only does the case look nice, but it is well-constructed. The nylon feels strong and all features are stitched on (as opposed to being glued), including the rubber "foot" towards the bottom, which appears to only exist for decorative purposes. Worth specifically pointing out: the amount of padding is substantial for such a small case. I feel like the system is very well protected.
It's hard to see from the photos, but the inside of the case uses a felt divider to separate the inside into two, distinct compartments. The inner-most compartment houses the system. The outer compartment opens surprisingly wide and could easily contain things such as small headphones and/or a charging cable. It does not fit the full-size 3DS docking cradle, but I can't imagine needing to travel with that anyway. The inside of the outer compartment also has a mesh pocket that can easily store a handful of games.
The zipper provides two sliders, allowing you to open only the top portion of the case. This is handy while on an airplane or bus (or any other bumpy vehicle) and you don't want to open the case completely out of fear of something falling out. While plastic, the zipper is substantial and I can't see the sliders ever snagging the edge of the case, becoming dislodged, or becoming misaligned.
I think part of the reason I was surprised was because I had only taken a cursory glance at the images and description before ordering and a number of the features are not readily-apparent when you do this. The aforementioned center divider and dual zipper sliders are one example of this, but there are more. For instance, the case includes a metal (aluminum?) carabineer which is about two inches long. This will allow me to easily clip the case onto my carry-on bag while flying. This is appreciated because my DS has always been something I'm constantly taking out and putting back while traveling and clipping it on the outside of my carry-on bag will make this easy to do. That's not the only option though. The case also includes a small, adjustable strap with a plastic clip which runs vertically down the back-center of the case. Also, both sides have a plastic-coated, fabric loop. I'm not sure what you could use these for, but I wouldn't be surprised if they turned out to be useful for something. You could clip a pen to these, perhaps.
The description claims this case features "elastic drawstring detail". I took this to mean it was a non-functional feature meant only to mimic the appearance of a real backpack. I was wrong. The crisscrossing elastic drawstring is fully functional and even implements a plastic, locking slider at the bottom to tighten/loosen the strap. It's definitely small, but I'm sure you can find a good use for it. For instance, I just tried using it to store my book light and it works perfectly.
Having written all that good, it's time for me to move on to the bad things. Oh, look at that, there aren't any! I'm very happy with this case and I hope you are, too!

Your mission is to build your garden to attract pinatas to live there. Everything you grow in your garden, including the pinatas, vegetables, flowers, and trees, can be sold for chocolate coins. You can use the coins to buy more seeds and grow more plants or to otherwise improve your garden. Viva Pinata is like a cross between Pokemon and The Sims and virtual pets, but I found that the result is greater than the sum of its parts!
This is a sandbox game of the best sort. You can make whatever decisions you want to and your garden can look however you want. You have the ability to dig ponds, grow grass, build houses for your pinatas, and all sorts of other activities that I am still discovering several hours into the experience. The decisions you make about how your garden develops will determine the kind of pinata who want to live there. The open-ended nature of the game is its best feature, and it really makes you feel like you are in control of the game's environment. The feeling of empowerment that kids receive playing Viva Pinata is enhanced by the excitement of constantly finding new things to do and play with.
I am impressed that a game that is so easy for kids to pick up is also so complex. My daughter is nine and was familiar with the controls and basic concepts within a half-hour. Yet the underlying concepts of the game are complicated. The skills I see her working on in this game primarily have to do with resource management, which as we adults know is critical for daily life. You have a limited amount of space for your garden (just like in real life), yet if you are not organized in your approach then the garden will quickly become a place of chaos. Kids will also learn the concepts of working to make money and how to budget for the next big item they need to improve their garden.
As other reviewers have stated, this looks like a game for kids, but it will suck an adult into its world just as easily. I couldn't wait for my kids to go to sleep the first night so I could start on my own garden. Time is greatly accelerated in the game, and the result is that you are very busy - you may suddenly look up from the game and see that a few hours have passed in the real world almost as quickly. The pinata are just the right amount of cute so that they are fun to watch, not annoying. There is no lull in the action for at least a few hours, at which time you may have been able to hire some helpers to take off some of the pressures of a big garden, such as watering and gathering your sellable items. This too is a good introduction to kids of the concept of people management. Lots of times you have to tell your helpers what to do, rather than just letting them do their own thing. Otherwise, their priority list is typically different from yours and those plants that you just planted may die because your helper was busy watering something less important.
Viva Pinata has way too much to offer to cover it all in such a short review. The environment is incredibly well done, from the sounds to the graphics. The game play is very addictive. Playing Viva Pinata actually got me excited to go out and do lawn work in the back yard! For parents wondering if this game is suitable for their kids, I will say that I am picky about what I let my kids watch and play and there is nothing here which offends me. There are all sorts of euphemisms around breeding pinatas (they call it "romancing") that sound very innocent but will make the adult chuckle. It is very tastefully done. And there is no doubt that your kids will be using their brains a lot more while playing this game than while playing the typical platform-style kids game. This is exactly the kind of game I was looking for to provide my kids with an enriching, non-violent video game experience. If Viva Pianta is an indication of the future of kids video games then the future is very promising.

(More customer reviews)Bully may very well be one of the most controversial games of all time simply based on the fact that Rockstar made it. With only a name to their game, it was turning heads. People feared the worst. Mostly that the game would be as violent as Grand Theft Auto, but in a high school setting.
Let me set some minds at ease. There are no guns. The game doesn't even have any blood. Also, you can't kill anyone. Lastly, violence is rather discouraged.
You do not play the Bully. Instead you assume the role of Jimmy Hopkins, a boy trying to survive at Bullworth Academy. He's basically your run of the mill student. Your task inside the school is the same as they are for just about every student in high school. Pass your classes and stay out of trouble. Going to class actually is enforced for a time. Your classes are mini-games that you'll play. You're allowed to try and ditch class but there are consequences for not going. However, in this game you'll want to go to class just because participating in said class is actually fun, and can improve your skills. The mini games are fun and addictive. After a while it's no longer enforced, which I actually found rather sad. The aspect of going to class doesn't get nearly enough attention, but the mechanic works.
Outside of class, however, is where the game really begins to shine. If you're familiar with the gameplay of Grand Theft Auto, then you'll easily adapt to Bully. For starters, each and every student at Bullworth Academy has a unique personality. You'll make friends and you'll make enemies. The missions are fun and quite an experience. The game is original. Even better, the story sequences are filled to the brim with humor, quite simply it's one of the funniest games I've played.
In addition, you can also venture outside of the school. Jimmy can get a job to help him buy food and other things, and he's able to help people around town do some of their errands and chores as well. You'll also be able to date, go play some arcade games and plenty more. All the things most high school students do.
Jimmy isn't without a mischief. He's got a slingshot, a bat and a few other things he can use. Again, you can't kill anyone with these things, and eventually the objects will break anyway. Besides, if you beat up a kid, you have to serve detention. Part of the point of the game really is staying out of trouble.
The game also takes on a more realistic feel. There's a clock in the corner that shows you what time it is. If you're caught wandering around the school after hours there are consequences. If you stay out too late, you'll actually get tired and fall asleep.
The game looks and sounds brilliant. Fantastic voice acting really brings the story to life. The game also has some great visuals. The school and environments look astonishing.
Bully is a great game to be sure. It's almost like an interactive teenage drama come to life. A lot of the game is humorous and fun. But most importantly, it isn't Grand Theft Auto and it does stand on its own.

When I heard that Blizzard Entertainment was developing a new version for that classic, I was overjoyed. The old Real-Time Strategy (RTS) has left its mark as the best Game of the Year 1995, Best Online Game, and Best Multiplayer Game. Although the gameplay graphics and cutscenes art are somewhat lacking, it has pretty good graphics, funny sounds, and appropriate background music. The game's online gameplay of this game is fantastic since it takes Blizzard's free online gaming server, Battle.net, and uses it in this classic's upgrade. Warcraft II Battle.net Edition's AI is much in need of improvement compared to the other new games, though. But this game was not supposed to be completely new, so Blizzard decided not to improve some of the features, but to fix old bugs, add small improvements, and add a super multiplayer option.
The story of Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition takes place after their first big hit, Warcraft I: Orcs and Humans. After the death of the Orcish Warchief Blackhand, Ogrim Doomhammer quickly took his place as the new Warchief. Meanwhile, the tattered humans from the destroyed land of Azeroth seek refuge in Lordaeron, the other power in the Alliance, a group of humans, elves, and dwarves allying up against the fearsome Orcs. The humans have won the second war against the Orcs and have destroyed their only way into human lands, the Dark Portal. As they find out, though, the rift allowing passage to their lands still exists. They Alliance must travel the rift to Orcish Lands to stop the Orcish threat.
When you first start out on a single-player campaign, if you choose one from the Tides of Darkness, then you'll start with a small amount of units and a basic building to start out on. This just teaches you how to build things and gives you a basic feel for how you play the game. Eventually, you'll move into much harder levels which involve keeping someone alive as you travel enemy territory, building up a strong enough force to overcome a powerful enemy, and developing strategy in order to outsmart your computer enemy.
The multiplayer features in this game are comparable to some of the top games out now. Popular online games, such as Starcraft and Diablo, use Blizzard's personal gaming server, Battle.net (the top online gaming service in the world), to make a very easy and powerful multiplayer option. There are also the basic multiplayer options such as connection over an AppleTalk or IPX networks. There are traditional modem games, which are only two player, and there is direct-connect (null modem). This game's multiplayer is also compatible with the old version of Warcraft II. You can select either the enhanced (which fixes bugs and adds Battle.net option) or you can choose normal (which is the only way you can play against other people with Warcraft II, but without Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition). This enhanced game has new features such as Shared Vision (the ability to see what your ally sees), there is the new food bar (which allows you to see how much food you have without selecting a farm), and there is fixed bugs and smaller new features that would take a while to list.
This game is a pretty basic RTS. Proportionally, the graphics are way off, but otherwise they are pretty good. For example, you walk a unit next to some trees or a building. From the sizes they use, you would only be able to fit about 16 units into the biggest building (the Town/Great Hall). Those must be very big units because the smallest unit is a peon and supposedly it takes up as much space as a catapult. The cutscenes in this game could be better, too. While they are much clearer and sharper then the original Warcraft, they still could be better.
The sound in this game is good, but not as good as I hoped. They have added a few new sounds that they had forgotten in the original, but those sounds go usually go unnoticed. While it's really funny to hear an Two-Headed Ogre burp really loud and then the two heads argue over who did it and to hear a Footman complain about what he's supposed to do, that's basically it in the sound department.
I highly recommend this game if you are/were a frequent Warcraft or Starcraft player.

Meteos Review

(More customer reviews)This game is very hard to describe when trying to make it sound as good as it is. Many people might say it's Tetris like, which it is to a SMALL extent, but it's far more. The basics of the game is trying to line up 3 falling blocks of the same color---when you do, they fly up into the sky and blast enemies. There is a little bit of a story line, but mainly, you are just trying to line up those blocks! The fun comes in that there are many different playing field to do this with, and each is a little different---different gravity, different strategies that work best, different kinds of blocks. And wildly different music---I am not someone that usually is that into music in video games, but this music is GREAT---it ranges from a country twang to a outer space sound to almost classical, and it really gets you into a groove. The other cool thing is that any block you manage to shoot into space gets added to your store of blocks, which you use to unlock more planets, and to unlock special kinds of blocks that do things like clear the board. You can play multi-player against the computer, but I so longed to try this in real multi-player mode I actually broke down and bought a second DS. I think I'm going to buy a second copy of the game, too, so I can use all the multi-player options (with one copy, you can play a limited version two player) This is the kind of game that makes you want to keep playing just a little more, to try to get a new planet, to try to make a new goal, just to see what the next area sounds and looks like...a TERRIFIC game!

(More customer reviews)This comes with many different things that you were probably considering to buy for your DS. It is def. worth the price considering how many things you actually get. Anyway, the Charging Dock is one of the things I like the most, since it can charge on my desk and take up minimal space. The downside to the charging dock is that it is lit up whenever the charger is attached to it... So even if your DS is not actually in the charger, it will still be lit up, wasting energy. So unplug the charger from the dock when its not in use if this bothers you too.
The carrying case is big but serves its purpose. It is a hard shell so if it drops, your nintendo will not be damaged. I like that the case has the 3 cartridge cases so you can carry your favorite games securely. They are simple but functional. The USB SD Card Reader, Wrist Straps, and Carry-all Tote Bag have been pretty pointless for me but you may like them. I always like to have extra styluses so I'm glad it came with some for when I forget to put mine back or lose them. The earbuds are surprisingly good; Although I don't use them for the DS, I have been using them with my computer and mp3 player and am impressed. Oh and the car charger- awesome to have as an option if you're going for a LONG drive :-)
I recommend this product, especially in the burgundy color; it's very nice.

(More customer reviews)Wow was I amazed! Try it, even if you do have the gamecube version. To me, this is worth the money and time.
Leon S. Kennedy is back and it's been six years later. The president ordered him to rescue the president's daughter from a religious group. This is most likely a survival horror game mixed with action and stategy.
The graphics on the PS2 is a little different. The texture isn't as good and it looks more darker. Still it's pretty good compared to the gamecube version.
The controls is excellent. It may be a little hard to get use to especially if you played the gamecube version. It gives you behind the shoulder look of Leon so you know where to shoot better than the other RE games. The laser device is nice as well because you can shoot at different parts of the body. You can also use knife attacks and kick your enemies as well. Make sure you find the weak spot!
You can't even relax during the cutscenes! You might have to either dodge, sprint, or somehow get out of trouble. Besides killing all of these ganados (Spanish villagers), you have to protect Ashley from getting killed or captured. If so, game over. You can also buy weapons and other items from a mysterious merchant and can upgrade as well. Too bad there is no weapon swap. The ganados have different ways to attack either with a scythe, dynamite, axe, or choke you to death! There is even chainsaw ganados! Many more enemies are introduced later on in the game. The bosses also are challenging and better than ever! There are some puzzles introduced to advance the plot. There are no typewriter ribbons. There is probably more things to point out but we need to talk about the extras!
Extras in the game such as Separate Ways. Which you play as Ada Wong and you play the same time and same place as Leon. There is no switching to characters but that's ok. There are more cutscenes and few more hours for you to enjoy. The new grapple gun is introduced which is a nice feature. It helps you get around to out of reach places as well. New weapons are here such as a laser gun which can kill enemies pretty easily and can stun them. The costumes are useful and pretty cool to say so myself. Leon looks like a detective and looks mysterious like. Ashley has a suit of armor which is a good thing. It can protect herself from gunshots or get killed in any other way. These extras can be obtained if you beat the game once. Extras from the gamecube version are also on here. The Mercenaries where you have to kill enemies to score points and unlock characters. You can even get an unlockable weapon. The Handcannon in the main game! There is also Assignment Ada where you play as Ada Wong collecting five plaga samples and mostly avoid enemies instead of shooting them. Heavy item managment is a must. There is no knife attacks so use guns! More costumes, unlockable weapons, professional mode where enemies are challenging than normal mode. Another round where you have all of your possesions from the previous file. Last but not least, a movie browser where you can view cutscenes from the game and Seperate Ways.
Overall, it's a great game. Especially for the PS2. Play it, even if you have the gamecube version. Since there is more features into this. Great job to Masachika Kawata and the others. If you don't have the gamecube version, here is your chance! I played the game through about 20-25 hours including the extras.

The graphic are amazing and the game-play is just as good as Forbidden Memories. After all Duelist of Roses is the sequal to Forbidden Memories. Travel through the entire duel monsters world, while battling opponents and winning cards. You as Yami Yugi are once again called to save your kingdom from the evil mage, Seto. Explore many places and theres even a new feature, if you press buttones in certain places you can find secret cards. This is a exquisite game and it is very well made. It is worth buying and i highly recommend that all Yu-Gi-Oh! lovers should get it!

Wii 2-Pack Glo Sword - Red and Blue Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the Glo Swords thinking it would be fun to have with the Force Unleashed on Wii, however this product blocks the sensor in the front of the remote so you have to use the dpad to navigate throughout the game. This caused frustration and I ended up taking the glo sword off the wii remote so I could navigate through menu options with out hassle of using dpad. This product is also awkward on the wii remote as it is difficult to swing and move the wii remote around while this item is attached. I also found that the item seems to mess up the wii remote on swings with using the characters in the game and doesn't work right at all. In all honesty I plan on taking this back and getting my money back because it doesn't work at all how I would like it to work !

Let me say again - this is a MATURE game. There is sex, there is swearing, there is a LOT of violence. Anybody who buys this game for their 8 year old is making a grave mistake. It really bothers me a lot when people buy adult games for kids and say "Oh I didn't know". It clearly says right on the box. There are a TON of adult gamers out there, and we like mature games, just like we like R rated movies. These games aren't meant for kids. They are made exactly the way us adults like them - full of adult situations.
That being taken care of, this is an *incredible* game. Let's start with the gameplay. It's hard to even imagine, looking at say a DS or GameBoy game, that any handheld could produce gameplay like this. You have a fully detailed, fully laid out cityscape. You can drive down any road, walk around amongst the people, watch the rain and sun and fog roll in. The storyline is great. The missions are great. Heck, even the sidegames are great. There are hidden packages to find, rankings to achieve, races to run, you name it. You could play this for months.
The graphics are spellbindingly beautiful. It's hard to believe this is a handheld game. You get rain falling down around your car as it careens past easily identifiable stores on a road, while pedestrians stroll down the sidewalks. From shooting tasks, to driving races, to handling a number of other situations, the graphics draw you into this world.
Let's talk about audio. There is a great selection of "radio stations" to listen to as you drive around. The voice acting really draws you into the story, to relate to the various characters involved. I've always loved the audio on the GTA games, and this is no exception.
Yes, this game requires a 2.0 update to run. The update is INCLUDED ON THE DISK. Anybody who has trouble finding it must be missing some basic computer skills. It's right on the main disk menu when you put the disk into the system. It's free, it's included, it's easy.
I can't say enough good things about this game. Let me try to figure out some down sides. Hmmm, well it's on a small screen. Heck, that's the whole point, that it's on a portable system. When I go on trips, I can bring it along with me. I think that's fantastic, to have a GTA system to bring on the plane or bus. I *did* find the storyline in general to be on the annoying side, truth be told. I really liked the original GTA3 storyline where you were a valued employee moving up in the ranks due to your skill. I found it frustrating in this one to play in essence an "uppity jerk" who is constantly put down either by his own mob buddies or his mom or other people. It didn't make the game nearly as enjoyable for me. This is my leisure time after all, to endulge in fun dreams. My fun dream isn't of being berated and harassed. That being said, the mom in the Sopranos always drove me completely insane too. You have to give a writer the leeway to write his own story, and if that's what he wants to write, you go with it.
This is a must-own game. It's a game for ADULTS. But it's a game with epic scope, great graphics, and great gameplay. Highly, highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)Basically you just run around Italy and France shooting Nazi's with your airborne sqaud. To progress further in the game you have to accomplish certain tasks such as clearing a building thats full of enemies. Setting up bombs etc. The AI is pretty predictable and the enemies shoot from their defensive positions and just wait for you to kill them. It would be nice if they took the offensive sometimes.
The Wii remote and Nunchuk are fully utilized for this game and it took me a few hours to get used it. To look around you use the Wii remote (pointed at the screen) and tilt it in the direction you want to see, there are crosshairs on the screen that help you aim your rifle. To walk you use the joystick on the nunchuk. To me now its almost as good as using a keyboard and mouse on a PC. You also use actions with the Nunchuk to reload your rifle (shake it to the right) and you swing back the Wii remote to launch a nade. So im pretty happy with the controls.
The graphics are pretty poor but thats to be expected for the Wii. Sometimes when the battle heats up i can notice some dropped frames. It seems that this game is pushing the Wii beyond its graphical limits. Another thing is that the game is really dark, i have to push the brightness on my TV up to near maximum so i can see what going on.
The sound quality is pretty good, it gives the game great atmosphere when planes are flying overhead being hit by cannons. A couple of times i thought there were planes flying over my house!
There is a split screen multiplayer function for four people but i have not tried it yet, everyone will need their own Wii remote and Nunchuk though. Internet multiplayer is non-existent and this is why ive only given this game 3 stars. I think it could be a killer game for the Wii if it had this function.
So its one of the better Wii games available at the moment and i enjoy it a lot. Please give Wii owners online multiplayer and it would be perfect!!

(More customer reviews)I needed a joystick, nothing fancy just something simple. I bought one that was a little too simple for about $16. I needed ANOTHER one. I found this Logitech Attack 3 one, for also $16. The caliber of the LA3 in quality and use is amazing. This joystick is fantastic. The stick itself is spring loaded but feels like it's gliding. The buttons and trigger are all on hair touches making for easy presses. And the throttle is a gliding scroll button that's very smooth and never leaves where you put it. One hand works the stick while the other works the bottom buttons and throttle. If you need a joy stick for some simple flying and dog fighting, (i.e. Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed) then the Logitech Attack 3 is perfect for you. Low price that delivers way more than it should. If you're a "sim" kind of guy then no, don't get this because it's not a sim stick, it's a joy stick, and it will bring you joy.

And boy, oh boy was I excited when the package from Amazon was dropped into my quivering little hands by my friendly neighborhood postal worker. This game is exactly what you want if you're a StarCraft fan--more of the same. Though there are some interesting new plot twists, the story basically picks up where the original StarCraft story left off. But in addition to the continuing storyline, you also have some new units to experiment with, including the Terran Medic (finally!) and the Protoss Corsair. All in all this is quite a good value for your buck... the worst thing will be waiting for it to show up at your door!
